Group Offerings for Adults
As part of our outpatient rehabilitation program, we provide both mandatory group sessions and optional additional programs. Besides the regular groups, we also offer specialized programs for individuals with experiences of psychosis, as well as an English-speaking group for our international clients.
English-Speaking Group
This program is designed for our English-speaking clients who are either already in therapy or awaiting a therapy placement. The group offers early support, imparts knowledge about substance use and mental health, and provides a safe space for exchange and personal reflection. It combines educational content with process-oriented group work.
Preparatory Group
Our preparatory group offers you the opportunity to openly exchange ideas with others affected and support each other while you wait for funding approval or your therapy placement. Here, you can experience the relief a group provides, connect in solidarity, and strengthen each other in your therapeutic efforts. A weekly abstinence check helps you stay on track with your goals. The group also provides a space to clarify questions about the application process and gain initial insight into the attitudes and working methods of the therapy center. This group is a voluntary additional service.
Education Group
At the start of therapy, you will join the education group, which consists of eight sessions. This group primarily focuses on imparting knowledge about addiction development, addiction shifts, relapse, and exploring your personal addiction history. Afterward, you will transition to a more advanced process group.
Process Group
You will remain in this group for the duration of your treatment. The focus is on stabilizing your abstinence. Simultaneously, you can bring up personal issues and stresses beyond substance use that relate to your current life situation. These concerns are discussed and addressed collectively in the group.
Mindfulness Group
The mindfulness-based relapse prevention group consists of eight sessions and aims to increase awareness of personal triggers and automatic reaction patterns. Through simple exercises, participants receive an introduction to meditation practice. They learn to better perceive feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, and to recognize and interrupt automatic reactions. Additionally, the group encourages a mindful and compassionate attitude toward oneself to foster self-acceptance and understanding. This group is a voluntary additional offering.
Double Trouble Groups
This program is designed for clients with experiences of psychosis. We offer two different group formats that can be attended concurrently.
Double Trouble I
A topic-focused group addressing the specific challenges of a dual diagnosis of psychosis and addiction. Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of both phenomena and their interrelations. The group also provides space to reflect on medication use and personal development regarding addiction and abstinence.
Double Trouble II
A therapy group that, in addition to topics covered in other process-oriented groups, focuses on coping with illness and, if necessary, social reintegration. Since all participants have experience with psychotic episodes, the group creates a supportive environment where even difficult aspects of these experiences can be openly discussed.
